Dear KC Fusion Families,
As we prepare for the 2010 spring season, our Fusion teams completed another successful fall campaign. Specifically, we had ten teams win their respective Heartland divisions; representing 26% of teams playing in the fall session; and had eight of those teams promoted for the spring season. Four of our eight U9 (boys and girls) teams finished the fall as league champions. What a great foundation we have at our youngest age group. Considering the high school boys teams that return along with expected promotions, we essentially have 50% of our teams participating at the division 1 level. From a tourney perspective, we have more successes than I can list here. Please look at the Highlights section of our web site (www.swusc.org) to review the many tourney championships claimed this past fall. Congrats to all of these teams on their success.
The preliminary seeding for premier teams for Heartland’s spring league has occurred and we didn’t’ have much in the way of surprises.
Our Saturday training sessions at 68 Sports are in full swing now for those of you who are participating. We will continue through February and are working on adding a session the first weekend in March to replace the first session that was cancelled for weather. A separate memo was distributed to coaches and managers with details of the program but this provides the opportunity for our Fusion teams to receive quality training sessions with several Fusion coaches at a cost that is considerably less than All American Indoor league fees.
We are excited to build on our winter indoor training with round two of our Fusion summer camps in 2010. Nate will be sending out specific information later but right now we are again planning on having our younger premier teams (U9 through U12) train at Mill Creek with our older teams (U13 and above) again traveling to Baker University. We are looking at only doing one session per day for the younger teams this year, probably in the morning. The younger teams will begin their training on July 5th and run Mon through Fri. The Baker training will run Mon through Wed for one group and Thu through Sat for a second group each week. Tentative dates for the camps are from July 12th through 30th.
On behalf of the Fusion Board, our best wishes for a terrific spring season. As always, please contact Nate, myself or any member of the Fusion board with your questions/concerns.
Mark Kohlrus, KC Fusion Director
Nate Houser, SWUSC Director of Coaching
